
Sitapur (UP), February 15 Two men in their 30s, who were repairing their sugarcane trolley, were allegedly run over by a speeding vehicle, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when the two men were sitting on the side of the road to inspect their vehicle, according to Anil Kumar Singh, the SHO of Khairabad Police Station.
Both men were rushed to a hospital in a serious condition, where they were declared dead.
The deceased were identified as Sarvesh Kumar, aged 35, and Chandan Singh, aged 38.
According to the police, the two men were transporting sugarcane to a nearby mill when their trolley broke down.
Darkness is believed to have been a contributing factor to the accident.
The SHO said that the accused driver fled the scene after the collision, and a search for him is underway.
