New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has announced the elevation of Aalok Shanghvi as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Previously serving as Whole-time Director and Executive Vice-President, Shanghvi has played a pivotal role in the company’s global growth strategy.
The Mumbai-based pharmaceutical giant, in a regulatory filing, stated that Shanghvi oversees key business segments, including Emerging Markets, Global Generic R&D, Global Business Development (Generics), Operations, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API).
Aalok Shanghvi, the son of Sun Pharma’s Managing Director, Dilip Shanghvi, joined the company in 2006 and has since contributed to various domains such as marketing, research and development, project management, procurement, and corporate communications.
In 2014, he took charge of the company’s Emerging Markets business, managing operations across 80 countries spanning Africa, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Latin America.
This leadership change reflects Sun Pharma’s commitment to strengthening its global operations and expanding its footprint in the pharmaceutical industry.
