Bomb Disposal Team Deployed; Area Cordoned Off as Probe Begins
Batala (Punjab), May 17 — A suspicious object resembling a hand grenade was discovered outside a liquor shop in Batala town of Gurdaspur district on Saturday, prompting immediate police action and heightened security in the area.According to a police official, the object was found near the shop premises, and its appearance was similar to that of a hand grenade. Authorities swiftly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety and summoned a bomb disposal squad to inspect the device.
“We received information about an object that appears to be a bomb. Our team reached the spot promptly, and a bomb disposal unit has been called in to assess the situation,” the official said.
He further stated that surveillance footage from nearby CCTV cameras will be examined to trace any suspicious activity or individuals in connection with the incident.
