
Chennai, March 1 – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin celebrated his 72nd birthday on Saturday by reaffirming his strong stance on state autonomy, the two-language policy, and his unwavering opposition to the imposition of Hindi.
Birthday Celebration Highlights Commitment to Tamil Identity
Amidst a vibrant atmosphere at "Anna Arivalayam," the DMK headquarters in Chennai, Stalin celebrated the occasion with family members and enthusiastic party workers. The headquarters wore a festive look, bustling with cadres and party officials who arrived to extend their greetings to the DMK chief.During the celebration, Stalin administered an oath titled "one goal," urging DMK workers to protect Tamil Nadu's interests and consistently oppose the imposition of Hindi. "Tamil Nadu poradum, Tamil Nadu vellum" (Tamil Nadu will fight, Tamil Nadu will win), proclaimed Stalin, echoed passionately by his supporters.
Social media was also flooded with messages from party supporters referring to Stalin affectionately as "Dravida Nayagar" (Dravidian Hero), reflecting their admiration and support for the leader.
Stalin's Consistent Opposition to Hindi Imposition
Emphasizing continuity in his ideology, Stalin remarked that his current opposition to Hindi imposition mirrors the fervor he displayed as an 18-year-old youth during a DMK party conference in 1971. He vowed to protect Tamil language and uphold Tamil Nadu's rights fiercely.In keeping with party tradition, Stalin paid tribute at the memorials ("samadhis") of DMK stalwarts C N Annadurai and M Karunanidhi at Marina Beach, pledging to follow their principles, especially in opposing Hindi imposition. Senior leaders, including Duraimurugan, TR Baalu, A Raja, along with state ministers and elected representatives, joined Stalin in this pledge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the prominent national leaders who extended birthday greetings to Stalin. In a post on 'X', Modi wrote, "Birthday greetings to Tamil Nadu CM Thiru MK Stalin. May he lead a long and healthy life."Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi also sent birthday greetings to Stalin notably in Tamil. Ravi, who has previously clashed with Stalin on issues including the National Education Policy (NEP), signed his message in Tamil—a gesture highlighting cultural significance.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi extended their wishes as well.
