Proposals from All MLAs Considered Based on Financial Feasibility, Says CM Stalin
Chennai, April 1: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reaffirmed in the State Assembly on Tuesday that the government is executing developmental projects without any political bias. Addressing allegations from the opposition AIADMK, Stalin emphasized that proposals from all legislators — regardless of their party affiliation — are being accepted based on financial viability.Refuting charges made by AIADMK Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Stalin clarified that projects proposed by AIADMK MLAs have also been taken up. He specifically pointed out that his government even followed up with AIADMK’s Dr. C. Vijayabaskar when he failed to submit a list of developmental works for his constituency.
“All the projects are being executed keeping in mind the financial viability and according to the demands of all the legislators irrespective of their party affiliation,” said Stalin, adding that he personally reviews project progress every two months.
Opposition Flags Rejection of Project Proposals
Palaniswami had earlier raised concerns under the "Ungal Thoguthiyil Mudhalamaichar" (Chief Minister in Your Constituency) scheme, stating that many proposals were rejected citing lack of funds. He mentioned that even a request to construct a school building was turned down.In response, Stalin clarified that the School Education Department is responsible for decisions related to school infrastructure development, and such requests are being handled appropriately.
Kamaraj to Be Honoured with New Library in Tiruchirappalli
In a significant announcement during the session, CM Stalin revealed that the upcoming library in Tiruchirappalli, being constructed at a cost of ₹290 crore, will be named after former Chief Minister Kamaraj. He described this as a tribute to Kamaraj’s contributions to education in Tamil Nadu, including the launch of village schools and the mid-day meal scheme for children. This move continues the DMK’s tradition of commemorating iconic leaders through state-run libraries. Previously, the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai and the Kalaignar Library in Madurai were named after party stalwarts. A library under construction in Coimbatore is also set to be named after the rationalist leader Periyar, as earlier announced by the Chief Minister.“It would be appropriate to name the Tiruchirappalli library after Kamaraj, who was instrumental in bringing education to every village in Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said.
