Tiruchirappalli, Feb 26 – In a tragic road accident, five people, including two women, lost their lives in the early hours of Wednesday when their car collided head-on with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus near Kulithalai in Karur district.
According to police reports, the impact of the crash was devastating, leaving the car completely mangled and causing severe damage to the front portion of the bus. The five occupants of the car, all residents of Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore, died on the spot.
The accident occurred on the Karur-Tiruchirappalli National Highway when the car, en route to Karur, collided with the government bus traveling from Aranthangi to Tiruppur. Emergency responders, including fire and rescue personnel, had to use special equipment to cut through the wreckage to recover the bodies.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, while the tragic incident has raised concerns over road safety on the busy highway.
