Tea Stall Owner Shot Dead in Gurugram: Protests Erupt at Jhajjar Chowk

Gurugram, May 13 — Tension gripped Farrukhnagar on Tuesday morning after a tea-samosa stall owner was shot dead by armed assailants near Jhajjar Chowk. The victim, identified as Rakesh Kumar, was allegedly a relative of former councillor Mukesh Saini.

Argument Over Samosas Turns Deadly

According to police officials, the incident followed a confrontation that took place on Monday evening when a group of youths visited Kumar's stall to purchase samosas. The altercation escalated, and the group reportedly threatened the victim during the dispute.

Tragically, the conflict turned fatal the next morning when assailants returned and opened fire, killing Kumar on the spot.

FIR Registered Against Five Accused

An FIR naming five suspects has been filed at the Farrukhnagar Police Station. Gurugram Police confirmed that multiple teams have been constituted to swiftly apprehend the accused.

"A case of murder has been registered, and the accused have been identified. Arrests will be made soon," a police spokesperson said.

Public Outrage and Road Blockade

The murder triggered outrage among the local community. Kumar's family, fellow shopkeepers, and residents blocked Jhajjar Chowk, demanding justice and the immediate arrest of the perpetrators. They also lashed out at the local police for allegedly ignoring the victim's earlier pleas for protection.

Protestors lifted the blockade only after senior police officials arrived and assured swift action. Authorities also promised disciplinary measures against any policemen who were negligent in handling Kumar’s prior complaints.

Investigation Underway

Police officials are currently investigating the motive and tracking the suspects. The case has raised concerns over law and order in the area and highlighted the need for more proactive security measures for small business owners.
