Teenage Girl Ends Life by Jumping in Front of Vande Bharat Train in Sonipat; One Arrested for Harassment

Sonipat, March 7: A tragic incident unfolded near Ganaur in Sonipat district, where a teenage girl allegedly took her own life by jumping before a speeding Vande Bharat train after reportedly facing harassment from a local youth, according to police sources on Friday.


Joginder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Government Railway Police, Sonipat, confirmed the incident, stating, “The victim jumped in front of a Vande Bharat train near Ganaur on Wednesday. Her family alleges she took this extreme step after being continuously harassed by a young man from her village.”


Following a complaint by the deceased girl’s father, police have registered a case against the accused youth and two of his accomplices under relevant sections, including abetment of suicide. Authorities confirmed that one of the accused has been arrested, while search operations continue to apprehend the remaining suspects.


The girl, who was studying in class 12, was identified by her family members shortly after the incident.


The tragic case has once again highlighted concerns over the safety and mental health of young girls facing harassment in rural areas.


Police investigations are currently underway.
