Tejashwi Yadav Lauds Armed Forces for Retaliation, Urges Special Parliament Session to Honour...webp

Patna, May 11 – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday praised the Indian armed forces for delivering a "befitting reply to Pakistan" in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. He also called upon the central government to convene a special session of Parliament to honour the country’s soldiers.

Yadav, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly and former deputy chief minister, reiterated his party’s unwavering support to the Centre in matters of national security.

“We had made it clear after the Pahalgam incident that we will support the government in whatever action it takes. Our armed forces have made us proud. They have given a befitting reply to Pakistan,” he said.

He added that he had already made this request to the Prime Minister on social media and was repeating it: “A special session of Parliament should be convened so that all members can fete our brave soldiers.”

Avoids Comment on US Role in Ceasefire

When asked about the reported intervention by the Donald Trump administration that led to the halting of the military conflict between India and Pakistan, Yadav refrained from commenting.

“I have heard that a ceasefire has taken place. I do not wish to comment on that. People in the government are competent to brief the media on the same,” he said.

Urges Media to Show Restraint in Coverage

Yadav also used the opportunity to appeal to the media to reflect on its recent coverage of military operations.

“Many things were run without authentication by the government or the Army, with scarce regard for the fact that this could cause distress to those living in the affected areas,” he said.

Drawing a comparison to the media’s role during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Yadav warned against the potential risks of unchecked reporting.

“It is ironical for a politician to give advice to the media, which is supposed to be a beacon of light. I urge my journalist friends, with folded hands, to exercise restraint and not repeat mistakes of 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008, when the scramble for live footage had hampered the anti-terror operation,” he concluded.
