Patna, March 1: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday took a sharp jibe at Bihar's NDA-led government, likening Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administration to a “rickety vehicle” overdue for replacement. Drawing parallels with the state's policy of banning vehicles older than 15 years to combat pollution, Yadav asserted it was high time to retire the 20-year-old regime that, according to him, has become a burden for the people of Bihar.
In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Yadav remarked, “The 20-year-old NDA government in Bihar, headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has now turned into a rickety vehicle. Vehicles over 15 years old are banned across Bihar due to harmful emissions and pollution; similarly, why should the state tolerate a worn-out government that harms public welfare?”
"Pollution" of Poverty, Crime, and Unemployment
Yadav accused Nitish Kumar's administration of spreading the “deadly pollution” of poverty, unemployment, corruption, crime, and migration over the past two decades. The Leader of the Opposition further stated that the youth of Bihar have resolved to remove this "dilapidated, sick, and unreliable government," replacing it with fresh leadership focused on job creation, economic progress, and development.“The Nitish-BJP government of manipulation and flip-flops has ruined the lives of two generations in 20 years. Bihar's youth now seek a dispensation marked by new thinking, vision, zeal, and direction—one that's dedicated to employment and development,” Yadav added.
Nitish Kumar’s Shifting Alliances
Nitish Kumar, who turned 74 on Saturday, has had a politically volatile relationship with allies. Initially parting ways with the BJP in 2013, Kumar aligned with Yadav’s RJD from 2015 to 2017, only to return to the NDA subsequently. In 2022, Kumar once again joined hands with the RJD-led ‘Mahagathbandhan’ but returned to the NDA fold last year.Birthday Greetings Amidst Criticism
Interestingly, Yadav’s critical remarks came as political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, extended warm birthday wishes to Nitish Kumar.Prime Minister Modi, sharing his wishes on X, wrote, “Hearty birthday wishes to the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar ji. Under his leadership, the state has progressed on a new path of development. May God grant him a healthy and long life.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Kumar’s leadership as synonymous with good governance and welfare, posting, “Heartfelt birthday wishes to Nitish Kumar ji. Bihar under your leadership has become synonymous with public welfare and good governance under the NDA. I pray for your excellent health and long life.”
Tejashwi Yadav, despite his political criticism, also extended a courteous birthday greeting to Kumar on social media.
