Thane Job Scam: Three Booked for Duping Four Aspirants of ₹56 Lakh with Fake Railway Offers

Fraudsters Used Forged Documents to Lure Victims Over Nearly Four Years

THANE, April 1 — In a disturbing case of employment fraud, the Badlapur East Police have registered a case against three individuals accused of cheating four job seekers out of ₹56 lakh by falsely promising them jobs in the Indian Railways.

According to officials, the victims—all residents of Badlapur in Thane district—were lured between September 2020 and July 2024. The accused, who hail from Badlapur, Mumbai, and Jharkhand, allegedly provided fake railway recruitment documents to gain the victims' trust and extract large sums of money over the extended period.

Despite repeated inquiries from the victims regarding their job placements, the accused failed to deliver any credible updates. Suspicion eventually led to the verification of the documents, which were found to be forged.

Based on a complaint filed by the victims, the police registered a case on Sunday under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to cheating and forgery. Authorities confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.

The incident serves as a grim reminder of ongoing employment scams and the importance of verifying job offers through official channels.
