Thane, March 2: Police in Maharashtra's Thane district have arrested a 29-year-old man accused of raping a 17-year-old girl and forcing her to undergo an abortion using forged documents. The incident, reported from Ulhasnagar township, has triggered widespread concern and an intense police investigation.
According to senior inspector Shankar Avtade from Ulhasnagar Central Police Station, the accused and the victim were neighbours. The incident dates back to July last year when the accused invited the minor girl to his house under the pretext of having dinner while his family was away. He allegedly raped her multiple times, threatening to kill her if she spoke about it to anyone.
