Thane, May 15 – In a deeply distressing incident in Ulhasnagar town of Maharashtra’s Thane district, a jeweller, his wife, and their daughter were found dead at their residence on Thursday. Police suspect it to be a case of double murder and suicide driven by severe financial stress.
Three Family Members Found Dead in Ulhasnagar Home
The deceased were identified as Pawan Pohuja, his wife Neha, and their daughter Roshni. According to officials, the bodies were discovered at their home, Harsh Cottage, in the Ulhasnagar Camp 1 area after authorities received an alert around 11.45 a.m.Upon reaching the site, police found Pohuja hanging from the ceiling, while Neha and Roshni were found lying lifeless on the floor. Initial investigations suggest that Pohuja may have strangled his wife and daughter before taking his own life late Wednesday night.
Mounting Financial Pressure and Personal Loss
Police sources revealed that the family had been grappling with emotional and financial turmoil. Six months ago, the couple had lost their 12-year-old son to a heart ailment, a tragedy that reportedly pushed them into deeper despair.Neighbours informed police that Pohuja was under significant financial stress, allegedly after being cheated by some individuals. He had reportedly spoken often about his difficulties and even mentioned suicidal thoughts in conversations with friends.
Suicide Video Surfaces in Investigation
A video recorded by Pohuja, in which he reportedly explains the reasons for his extreme step and names those who allegedly deceived and harassed him, has been recovered by police. Authorities have seized the footage and are currently examining it as part of the investigation.The bodies have been sent to a government hospital for post-mortem. Police have launched a detailed probe into the matter, and further updates are awaited.
