Thane, March 7: Police in Maharashtra’s Thane district have registered a case against a 42-year-old woman accused of cheating a man out of Rs 3.2 lakh by falsely promising him a job with the Indian Railways.
According to the Kalyan police, the accused allegedly convinced the victim that she could secure him employment as a helper with the Railways in exchange for Rs 5 lakh. Trusting her claims, the complainant met the woman at a hotel in Kalyan and paid her an advance of approximately Rs 3.2 lakh.

When confronted and asked to return the money, the woman reportedly became evasive and unresponsive. Following this incident, the victim approached the Kalyan police and lodged a formal complaint.
Acting on the complaint, authorities registered a case on Wednesday against the woman for charges of cheating and forgery. Police have initiated a thorough investigation to track down the accused and uncover any further details related to the case.
The investigation is currently ongoing, and further developments are awaited.
