Mumbai, February 12 Salman Khan's brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma, has allegedly received a threatening email, according to police. This development comes shortly after actor Ranveer Singh received a threat via WhatsApp.
The sender of the email to Sharma, who is also an actor, claimed to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to a statement released by police on Wednesday, without providing further details.
Although there was no formal complaint, police have launched an investigation into the threatening email sent to Sharma, an official said.
Crime branch officials are verifying the authenticity of the email, and whether someone is attempting to cause mischief, he said.
Recently, actor Ranveer Singh received a threatening voice note on WhatsApp from unidentified individuals.
Police suspect that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang may be behind the threat made to Ranveer, reportedly with the intention of extortion, according to an official on Tuesday.
Last week, an unidentified shooter fired five shots at the residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in Mumbai's Juhu area.
