Mumbai, February 27 – A 60-year-old man from Gujarat, who was abducted while attempting to board a train, has been successfully rescued in Mumbai. The city police have arrested three individuals involved in the kidnapping, an official said on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Keshavji Bheemabhai Chowdhary, was abducted at Bhachau station while preparing to board the Kutch Express to Mumbai on Monday. Following the kidnapping, the perpetrators contacted his son, Mahesh Kumar, demanding a ransom of ₹25 lakh to be delivered through ‘angadia’ couriers.
Acting swiftly, Mahesh Kumar alerted the police, prompting the formation of multiple investigative teams. The breakthrough came on Wednesday, when police apprehended one of the suspects in Kandivali. His interrogation led the authorities to a flat near Ram Mandir railway station, where the victim was found along with two other kidnappers.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Radheshyam Soni (30), Satish Yadav (33), and Dharmendra Ravidas—all residents of Malad, Kandivali, and Goregaon in Mumbai’s western suburbs. They have been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to kidnapping.
Further investigations into the case are ongoing.
