Crime Branch Busts Betting Operation in Porvorim During IPL Match​

Panaji, April 5 – Goa Police have arrested three individuals for allegedly operating an online betting racket linked to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches.

The arrests were made late Friday night after the crime branch conducted a raid at an apartment in the Porvorim locality near Panaji. According to a police spokesperson, the accused were caught red-handed while accepting bets on the IPL match between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians.

Accused Identified as Telangana Residents​

The individuals arrested have been identified as:
  • Tigulla Shrinivas (39)
  • Gaddala Kiran Kumar (37)
  • Annathapuram Shravankumar Chary (36)
All three hail from Telangana and were allegedly involved in coordinating online bets during live cricket matches.

Seized Items and Case Details​

During the raid, police seized:
  • Multiple mobile phones
  • A laptop
  • Gaming accessories
The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹1.80 lakh. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the extent of the racket and any possible links to larger betting networks.

This action comes amid heightened scrutiny during the IPL season, where illegal betting operations often see a surge in activity.
