Kakinada, May 17 – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three individuals after the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck on National Highway 16 near Tuni in Kakinada district during the early hours of Saturday.

According to local police officials, the incident occurred around 2 AM when five sales executives were returning from a company meeting held in Visakhapatnam (Vizag) to Rajahmundry. The car reportedly crashed into a truck that was parked on the highway, resulting in the immediate deaths of two passengers. A third succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

"The victims were part of a team of sales executives commuting after an office meeting. Unfortunately, three of them died in the mishap. The remaining two passengers are safe and out of danger," a police official confirmed.

A case has been registered under Section 104 A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on highways, especially during late-night travel, to avoid such fatal incidents.
