Srinagar, May 10 – Security forces successfully intercepted and shot down three drones in Kashmir on Saturday amid heightened tensions with Pakistan, officials confirmed.
Drone Spotted Near Srinagar Airport Amid Blasts
The first incident occurred in Srinagar, where a drone was detected hovering above the old airfield, commonly referred to as the "technical" airport. Around noon, two powerful explosions were heard near the Srinagar airport, prompting immediate activation of the air-defence system.Officials reported that the drone was promptly neutralized before it could approach any critical infrastructure.
Two More Drones Neutralized in Baramulla
Later in the day, two additional drones were spotted in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Security personnel stationed in the Hyderbeig locality of the Pattan area responded swiftly, shooting down both aerial threats near a security installation.Authorities stated that all three drones were neutralized before causing any damage, underlining the preparedness and vigilance of the Indian defence forces amid escalating tensions along the border.
The incidents come at a time when cross-border hostilities have intensified, placing strategic locations in Kashmir on high alert.
