Chitradurga (Karnataka), May 12 — A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three members of a family near Holalkere in Karnataka's Chitradurga district during the early hours of Monday. The incident occurred around 4 am when the car they were traveling in reportedly collided head-on with a lorry.
According to police, the deceased were from Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh and were en route to Udupi at the time of the accident. A preliminary investigation suggests that the car’s driver may have dozed off at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane.
The lorry, which was traveling from Mangaluru to Ballari, crashed into the oncoming car, resulting in the instant death of three family members, including a woman. The car’s driver, who sustained injuries, is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Chitradurga and is reported to be out of danger.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the incident.
This accident highlights the continued risk of driver fatigue on long journeys, especially during early morning hours.
