Delhi Police Investigate Property Dispute Link in Chilling Daylight Killing
New Delhi, May 15 — Delhi Police have identified three individuals in connection with the shocking murder of 24-year-old Arun Lohia, who was gunned down in broad daylight near Chhatarpur Metro Station on Thursday afternoon. The incident, which occurred around 1 PM, is believed to have resulted from an ongoing property dispute. Arun Lohia was travelling with his father, Ramveer Lohia (50), when two assailants on a motorcycle intercepted their car and opened fire at close range.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan confirmed that two of the accused have been identified as the shooters. In contrast, a third person—allegedly responsible for logistical support—was identified later during the investigation.
According to Chauhan, the father-son duo had just returned from a court hearing related to an attempted murder case in which Arun was accused of firing at two individuals last year. One of those individuals is believed to be the same person who later assisted in Thursday’s attack.
The attackers reportedly approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and fired ten rounds at Arun. Despite Ramveer’s attempts to intervene, the shooters managed to flee the scene.
A Delhi Traffic Police officer on duty rushed the critically injured Arun to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival due to excessive blood loss.
Sources close to the investigation revealed that the victim and the assailants belonged to the same village, intensifying the suspicion of a longstanding rivalry.
Police are now interrogating family members of the accused to piece together the full chain of events and expedite the arrest of those involved.
