Thane, Feb 4 (PTI) – Three people sustained serious injuries after a car crashed into their auto-rickshaw in Maharashtra’s Thane city late on Monday night, causing a significant traffic disruption, civic officials confirmed.

The incident occurred around 10 PM near the Patlipada bridge on the busy Ghodbunder Road. According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s disaster management cell, the driver of the car, traveling from Jogeshwari in Mumbai towards Patlipada, lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rear-end collision with the auto-rickshaw.

The impact left three individuals inside the rickshaw, including the driver, with severe head and other injuries. They were immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment. Fortunately, two children, both aged six, who were also in the vehicle, emerged unhurt.

The accident led to a two-hour-long traffic disruption on the arterial road. Upon receiving the alert, local fire officials, the disaster management cell team, and traffic police swiftly responded to the scene. A crane and a pickup vehicle were deployed to clear the wreckage and move both vehicles to the roadside.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact cause of the driver’s loss of control.
