IMPHAL, April 11 — In a significant crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police arrested three militants linked to different proscribed outfits during operations in Imphal East district on Thursday. Security forces also recovered a large cache of arms and explosives in separate operations across the state.

Arrests Across Imphal East
The arrests were carried out in separate police station jurisdictions:
- Oinam Rabichandra Singh (33), a member of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (SOREPA), was apprehended from the Sawombung area.
- Another insurgent affiliated with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) was captured on Ngariyan Yairipok Road in the Andro police station area. Authorities said he was allegedly involved in extortion and the transportation of arms and ammunition.
- Md Israk Khan, associated with the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG), was arrested from Kairang village.
Arms and Explosives Seized
In a separate combing operation on the same day, a significant quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from Pukhao Ahallup in Imphal East. The seized items included:
- A 9mm submachine gun with three magazines
- A double-barrel gun
- A .32 pistol with a loaded magazine (three cartridges)
- Four hand grenades
- Ten detonators
- Two MK12T explosives
- A radio set and a vehicular set microphone
Additionally, in Siden Bowel, located in Churachandpur district, security forces seized:
- A .22 rifle with an empty magazine
- A single-barrel gun
- Two country-made mortars (Pompi)
