Ongoing operations amid prolonged ethnic violence
Security forces have intensified search and arrest operations across the state, which has been grappling with ethnic violence since May 2023. The clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have resulted in over 260 deaths and displaced thousands of residents. In response to the deteriorating law and order situation, the Centre imposed President’s Rule in Manipur on February 13, following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The state assembly has been placed under suspended animation, although its term extends till 2027.
The recent arrests are part of a broader crackdown aimed at curbing militant activity and restoring order in the conflict-hit region.
