Srinagar, February 16: In a swift operation against timber smuggling, Jammu & Kashmir Police successfully seized a consignment of illicit timber in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
J&K Police received reliable information regarding the illegal smuggling of forest timber in the Goigam area. Acting swiftly on the information, a police team was deployed to the location for verification and search.
During the search operation, illegal forest timber was seized with the following details: 38 window frames measuring 4 × 1½ feet, 03 planks measuring 5 × 5 inches, and 04 planks measuring 1½ × 5 inches. The seized timber was recovered from Khurshheed Ahmad Khan, son of Ab. Ghani Khan, a resident of Goigam. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 13/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kunzer, and an investigation was initiated.
J&K Police assures the public that strict action will continue against all those involved in timber smuggling and other illegal activities to protect the environment and natural resources.
