Visakhapatnam, February 9 Srinivasananda Saraswati, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Sadhu Parishad, alleged on Monday that the CBI report on the Tirupati laddus has confirmed the use of adulterated ghee.
He claimed that laddus worth Rs 20 crore were adulterated.
He alleged that a "food mafia" was involved in the adulteration of the sacred laddus (consecrated sweets) and added that devotees might fall ill after consuming the laddus "containing chemicals".
"The CBI has issued a report confirming that the Tirupati laddus were adulterated. The CBI has concluded that laddus worth Rs 20 crore were adulterated," he said in a press release.
Demanding that the government take action based on the CBI report on the laddu adulteration, he warned that those who have committed wrongdoing cannot escape the punishment of Lord Venkateswara.
