New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi for manipulating student promotions to protect its image. He claimed that the government only allowed students to progress to Class 10 if they were certain to pass the board examination.

Addressing a group of students, Modi stated, "I have heard that in Delhi, students who perform poorly in Class 9 are not promoted to Class 10. They only allow those students who are guaranteed to clear the board exam. They fear that poor results would tarnish the image of their government."

A short video clip of the Prime Minister's remarks was widely shared on social media by BJP leaders, who echoed his criticism. They accused the AAP-led government, under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of compromising students' futures to maintain the illusion of a successful education model.

"AAP has prioritised propaganda over real educational progress. Instead of improving learning outcomes, they have denied students the opportunity to take exams, just to present an inflated success rate," a BJP leader said.

The political battle in Delhi is intensifying ahead of the Assembly elections on February 5, where AAP, BJP, and Congress are locked in a three-way contest. The results of the high-stakes election will be declared on February 8.
