New Delhi, April 6 — Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is aiming to sustain its growth trajectory in FY25, following a record-breaking performance in the previous financial year. The automaker plans to bolster its presence across India by expanding its dealership network, introducing new models, and ramping up production capacity, according to a senior company executive.
Strong SUV, MPV Demand Fuels Ambitious Growth Strategy
Speaking on the company’s outlook, Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President (Sales, Service, Used Car Business) at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, expressed confidence in maintaining momentum, particularly in the SUV and MPV segments. Flagship models such as the Innova Crysta and Fortuner continue to drive strong market demand.“With the kind of product portfolio we have now—from small cars to our flagship offerings—along with increased production capacity and a growing network, especially in tier II and III markets, we believe Toyota is well-positioned to strengthen its presence in India,” Wadhwa said.
Focus on Rural Markets and Dealer Network Expansion
TKM currently operates around 1,100 sales outlets across the country and is actively enhancing its network to reach deeper into rural areas and smaller towns.“We want to get closer to our customers, especially now that our portfolio has expanded significantly,” Wadhwa added.
Electrification and Sustainability on the Horizon
As part of its commitment to carbon neutrality, Toyota is exploring electrification options, including the launch of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the Indian market. This aligns with its global vision of sustainable mobility.Exports on the Rise: India as a Key Global Hub
The company is also witnessing robust growth in exports, with overseas shipments surging by 59% in FY25 compared to FY24. Wadhwa highlighted India’s emerging role as a strategic manufacturing and export base for Toyota globally.Major Investments in Karnataka and Maharashtra
To support its long-term vision, Toyota has announced substantial investments in manufacturing:- ₹3,300 crore investment for a third plant at its Bidadi facility near Bengaluru, expected to go mainstream in 2026, raising the site's annual production capacity to 4.42 lakh units.
- A new plant in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with an investment of around ₹20,000 crore, for which the company has secured 827 acres of land.
Record Sales in FY24 Sets Stage for FY25
Toyota Kirloskar reported its highest-ever annual sales in FY24, dispatching 3,37,148 units, marking a 28% increasefrom 2,63,512 units in FY23. March 2025 also saw a year-on-year rise of 11%, with sales touching 30,043 units.Models like the Glanza and Urban Cruiser Taisor, developed through its partnership with Suzuki, have contributed to the brand’s strong domestic performance.
With an expanding product lineup, growing exports, and strategic investments, Toyota Kirloskar is set to play a bigger role in shaping India's automobile future.
