Tragedy in Ballia: Uncle-Nephew Duo Drown in Saryu River Near Navka Baba Temple

Incident Occurred During Religious Visit​


In a tragic incident near Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, an uncle and his nephew drowned while bathing in the Saryu river on Tuesday morning. The incident took place when the victims, identified as Veeru Patel (15) and his uncle Bhim Patel (35), had visited the Navka Baba temple located under the jurisdiction of the Maniyar police station.


Details of the Tragic Event​


According to local police reports, a group of devotees from Gorakhpur had traveled to the temple for religious rituals. Around 7:00 am on Tuesday, Veeru and Bhim went to take a bath in the river. Unfortunately, they ventured into deep waters and subsequently drowned.


Rescue Efforts and Police Action​


Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh confirmed the incident and stated that rescue divers recovered the bodies from the river shortly after the incident was reported. The deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations to ascertain the exact cause of death.


Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic drowning.
