Alappuzha (Kerala), March 2: A shocking and tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening in Kayamkulam near Alappuzha, Kerala, when a young man lost his life after a fish got stuck in his throat during fishing.
The deceased, identified as Adarsh, popularly known as Unni (25), was a resident of Puthuppally, police confirmed.
According to local authorities, the incident took place around 4:30 PM while Adarsh was fishing along with friends in a paddy field. He was draining water from the field and catching fish. In an attempt to free his hands to catch another fish, Adarsh placed a fish he had already caught into his mouth. Unfortunately, the fish accidentally slipped down his throat, causing him to choke.
His friends immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Ochira, but despite prompt medical attention, doctors were unable to save his life.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary of Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital, and police have initiated an investigation into the incident. A case has been registered under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), police sources added.
The community remains deeply shaken by this unforeseen tragedy.
