Collision with Speeding Truck Devastates Family Returning from Wedding
Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, May 15 – In a heart-wrenching incident, five members of a family lost their lives and eight others sustained serious injuries in a late-night road accident on the Balrampur-Bahraich National Highway near Chakwa village.According to officials, the victims were returning to Bhulahiya village after attending a wedding when a speeding truck rammed into their car around midnight. The force of the collision resulted in the immediate deaths of five individuals, while eight others were rushed to the District Memorial Hospital in Balrampur with critical injuries.
District Magistrate Pawan Agarwal confirmed the details, stating, "A fast-moving truck rammed into the car near Chakwa village. Five people died on the spot, and eight were seriously injured. They are currently receiving treatment at the District Memorial Hospital."
Victims Identified, Search for Driver Underway
The deceased have been identified as Adityaraj (12), Shiv Kumar (23), Phool Babu (36), Vijay Gautam (40), and one individual whose identity is yet to be confirmed. The injured include Sitaram, Vikas Gautam, Vinay Kumar, Kishor Kumar, Gopal, Vikas, and Vinod—all members of the same extended family.Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar revealed that the truck driver fled the scene after the crash. "The vehicle has been recovered, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest the absconding driver," he said.
Administrative Action and CM's Response
Both the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police visited the hospital on Thursday morning to oversee the treatment being provided and ensure that the injured received the best possible care.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic loss. In a post on X, the Chief Minister’s Office stated, "The Chief Minister has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and directed the district officials to provide all necessary treatment to the injured. He has also wished them a speedy recovery."
Investigation in Progress
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem examinations. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and a full investigation is underway to determine the cause and accountability for the accident.Authorities continue their efforts to trace the truck driver and provide justice to the grieving family.
