Jammu, March 2: In two tragic incidents reported from Jammu and Samba districts on Sunday, three minors lost their lives, casting a pall of gloom over their respective communities.

Two Girls Found Dead in Rain-Filled Trench in Samba

In a heartbreaking incident at Lower Birpur in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district, two minor girls were found dead in a trench filled with rainwater. The victims, identified as Asiya (10) and Tahira (9), belonged to nomadic families originally from South Kashmir's Anantnag district.

According to officials, the girls had taken their animals out for grazing on Saturday evening, after which they were reported missing. Despite extensive search efforts by locals and authorities, both children remained untraceable until their bodies were recovered from the water-filled ditch.

Initial investigations suggest that the girls may have accidentally slipped into the trench, leading to drowning. However, officials noted that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed following the post-mortem examination.
