Loco Pilots Avert Potential Tragedy on Delhi-Dibrugarh and Kathgodam Routes

Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, May 20 – A major disaster was narrowly averted on Monday evening when two separate attempts to derail passenger trains, including a Rajdhani Express, were foiled in Hardoi district thanks to the alertness of train drivers.

According to police reports, the incidents occurred between Dalelnagar and Umartali stations at kilometre marker 1129/14. Unidentified miscreants had tied wooden blocks to the railway tracks using earthing wire in an apparent sabotage attempt.

The first incident involved the 20504 Rajdhani Express, traveling from Delhi to Dibrugarh in Assam. The train’s loco pilot spotted the obstruction just in time and immediately applied the emergency brakes. He successfully removed the hazard and promptly alerted railway authorities.

A second attempt followed shortly after, targeting the 15044 Kathgodam Express, which was trailing the Rajdhani. This incident too was prevented due to the swift action of the train’s pilot.

Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun visited the location later in the evening to assess the situation and issued critical directives to the investigating teams.

Teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police have launched an investigation into the attempted sabotage. Authorities are working together to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the potentially deadly acts.

Railway officials have commended the presence of mind and timely response of the train drivers, which ensured the safety of hundreds of passengers aboard the two trains.
