Triple Murder Shocks Gorakhpur as Man Kills Grandparents, Granduncle in Brutal Attack

Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 28: In a horrifying incident, a 24-year-old man allegedly murdered his grandfather, granduncle, and grandmother in Gorakhpur on Friday morning. The accused, identified as Ramdayal, was arrested after a brief chase, police confirmed.

Violent Outburst Turns Fatal

According to Superintendent of Police (North) Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, the violence erupted in the Jhangha area when Ramdayal attacked a buffalo with a spade. His grandfather, Kuber Maurya (72), objected to the act, prompting the accused to turn on him, fatally striking him with the tool.

Hearing the commotion, his granduncle, Sadhu Maurya (75), and grandmother, Draupadi Devi (70), rushed to intervene. However, Ramdayal chased them into a nearby field and brutally murdered them as well. Following the killings, he dragged the bodies to the roadside and sat beside them, witnesses said.

Mother Witnesses Killings, Alerts Villagers

Ramdayal’s mother, Kusumawati, who was present during the attack, managed to escape and alert the villagers. She later revealed that her son had displayed aggressive tendencies ever since he suffered an accident.

Terrified villagers refrained from intervening but promptly informed the police. Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Ramdayal after a brief pursuit.

History of Violent Behavior and Mental Instability

Authorities disclosed that just two days before the murders, Ramdayal had publicly brandished a wooden stick and assaulted a youth. However, he was released after his grandparents intervened on his behalf.

Further, villagers alleged that the family has a history of mental illness, with Ramdayal’s father and uncle also exhibiting unstable behavior.

Police Investigation Underway

Superintendent Srivastava assured that the situation in the village is under control and all aspects of the case are under thorough investigation.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, raising concerns over mental health awareness and intervention in rural areas.
