CM Manik Saha Thanks Centre for Strengthening Security and Employment in the State
Agartala, May 16—Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for approving the creation of another India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) unit for the state, calling it a significant move to enhance security and employment.Officials said the new sanction increases the number of IR battalions in Tripura from 11 to 12, while the state continues to maintain three units of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR).
Taking to Facebook, the Chief Minister wrote, "Big boost for Tripura! The Union Ministry of Home Affairs sanctions the raising of another India Reserve Battalion for Tripura State Rifles (TSR), enhancing security and generating employment opportunities. Grateful to PM Narendra Modi Ji & Union Home Minister Amit Shah Ji."
According to officials, 75 percent of the posts in the IRBN are reserved for candidates from Tripura, with the remaining 25 percent open to applicants from outside the state.
Adding a new battalion is expected to significantly strengthen the police force, especially for a state like Tripura, which shares an international border. “One more IRBn means there will be recruitment scope for the youth. Once the battalion is raised, the state police resources will be enhanced,” a senior officer noted.
This development comes shortly after the state recruited 979 police constables, further reinforcing its commitment to internal security and youth employment.
