Akola, Feb 3 (PTI): A tragic accident in Akot city of Maharashtra's Akola district claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl after she was crushed under a truck while riding pillion on a motorcycle with her father, police reported on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday night on Daryapur Road when the victim, identified as Nidhi Jaiswal, fell from the bike and was fatally hit by the truck.
Following the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. However, he was later arrested, an official confirmed.
Authorities have booked the driver under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
