Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh: A truck carrying wood overturned into a ditch near Faizpur village in Mainpuri district on Sunday evening, resulting in the deaths of the driver and the cleaner, police confirmed on Monday.
According to Station House Officer Chhatrapal Singh from Ghiror police station, the truck was traveling towards Kanpur when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and plunge into a roadside ditch.
The deceased have been identified as Narendra Pal Singh (48), the driver, and Rishi Kumar (25), who worked as the cleaner. Their bodies have been sent for postmortem examination to ascertain further details.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
