Trump-Zelenskyy Clash: Russia Mocks Ukraine's President after Oval Office Showdown

In a surprising turn of events, Russia has openly mocked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following his unprecedented verbal confrontation with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Friday, labelling it a "miracle" that the situation didn't escalate to physical violence.

During the intense meeting, President Trump aggressively accused Zelenskyy of "risking millions of lives," and warned that his actions could ignite World War III. Tensions flared when Zelenskyy abruptly left the White House without signing a critical minerals agreement—a condition Trump strongly implied was essential for continued American support to Ukraine.

Reacting swiftly to the altercation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova ridiculed Zelenskyy through Telegram, singling out his claim that Ukraine was alone and unsupported during the Kyiv crisis of 2022 as "his biggest lie."

Zakharova sarcastically remarked, "How Trump and [Vice President JD] Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint."

Adding fuel to the fire, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev—currently Deputy Head of Russia's Security Council—further insulted Zelenskyy, calling him an "insolent pig" who deserved the "proper slap down in the Oval Office."

"For the first time, Trump told the cocaine clown the truth to his face: the Kyiv regime is gambling with World War III," Medvedev wrote, adding, "That's a good thing, but not enough—we must stop military aid to the Nazi machine."

The heated exchange escalated after Zelenskyy brought up Russian President Vladimir Putin's 2014 invasion of Crimea. Vice President Vance sharply criticized Zelenskyy’s remarks, saying, "I think it's disrespectful for you to come to the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media…you should be thanking the president for trying to bring you into this conference."

After leaving the White House, Zelenskyy sought to calm tensions, posting on X: "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @POTUS, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."

The confrontation underscores deepening rifts amid ongoing geopolitical tensions involving the US, Ukraine, and Russia.
