Arms, Ammunition, and Maoist Materials Seized in Late-Night Operation
Ranchi, May 17 — Security forces have arrested two members of the Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), including a sub-zonal commander, in a major crackdown on Maoist activities in Jharkhand's Ranchi district.The arrests were made on Thursday night from a forested stretch between Chaingarha and Gamharia under the jurisdiction of the Burmu police station. The apprehended individuals were identified as Diwakar Ganjhu, also known as Pratap Ji, who was a sub-zonal commander within the TSPC, and Akshay Ganjhu, another active member of the outlawed outfit.
Weapons and Propaganda Seized
During the operation, police seized a cache of items including two pistols, six live cartridges, five mobile phones, four chargers, TSPC propaganda leaflets, and other materials.Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha confirmed that the duo were heavily involved in extortion activities targeting local businesses. Their operations focused on collecting levies from crusher unit owners, brick kiln operators, and land dealers across multiple areas, including Burmu, Urimari, Bhurkunda, Pataratu, Badkagaon, and Keredari.
Diwakar Ganjhu Linked to 18 Criminal Cases
SSP Sinha further revealed that Diwakar Ganjhu is a wanted accused in 18 separate cases involving arson, vandalism, and firearm-related violence. His arrest marks a significant blow to TSPC's operations in the region.The police operation forms part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle Maoist networks and restore peace and safety in the affected areas of Jharkhand.
