Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, Feb 27 – Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly posting derogatory remarks on Facebook against Union Minister B L Verma and for issuing threats to a local Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader who confronted them over the issue.

The incident took place in the Ujhani Kotwali area of Budaun district. According to officials, BJYM city president Vivek Rashtrawadi filed a complaint on Tuesday against three individuals—Manveer Shakya, Rupesh Shakya, and Gaurav—accusing them of making objectionable remarks against Verma on social media.

Rashtrawadi alleged that when he questioned the trio about the post, they not only abused him but also issued threats of dire consequences.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested two accused. "Kotwali police apprehended Manveer, while Kadar Chowk police arrested Rupesh. Both were presented before the SDM's court after a medical examination and were subsequently sent to judicial custody," said Inspector Rahul Chauhan.

Meanwhile, police officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the third accused, Gaurav, who is currently on the run.

The case has sparked political and social discussions in the district, with authorities taking a strict stance on derogatory remarks and online threats.
