Gurugram, May 10 – In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Gurugram police have arrested two men for allegedly smuggling charas from Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The police seized 1.361 kilograms of the banned substance along with Rs 7 lakh in cash from the accused.
Seizure Made During Interception Near Manesar
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team from Palam Vihar intercepted a suspicious vehicle near Pachgaon in the Manesar area. During a search of the car, police recovered over 1.3 kg of charas, estimated to be worth around Rs 50 lakh in the illegal drug market. Authorities also confiscated Rs 7 lakh in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking. The car used in the transportation was impounded as evidence.Identities and Modus Operandi
The accused have been identified as Rajesh, 48, a taxi driver from Balbhadra Sarai, and Mukesh, 38, an automobile spare parts dealer from Saini Mohalla Kutubpur in Rewari district. According to police, the duo had procured the contraband from Manali and brought it to Gurugram with the intent to distribute it locally.FIR Registered, Further Investigation Underway
A case has been registered at Manesar police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to uncover the extent of the smuggling network and identify any additional individuals involved.This operation marks a strong stance by Gurugram police against the trafficking of narcotics in the region.
