Thane, May 17 – In a dramatic turn of events in Navi Mumbai, police arrested two individuals for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old boy over an unpaid debt and demanding a ransom of Rs 12 lakh from his family. The incident took place in Ghansoli on the night of May 14, according to officials from the Koparkhairane police station.
Dispute Over Outstanding Loan Turns Criminal
The ordeal began when the accused reportedly confronted the boy's father at their home over a pending loan of Rs 4 lakh. The confrontation escalated into a heated argument, during which the duo allegedly assaulted the teenager and forcibly took him away in a vehicle.Shortly after the abduction, the accused demanded a ransom of Rs 12 lakh for the safe return of the boy.
Swift Police Action Leads to Rescue
Following a complaint filed by the boy’s father, the police registered a case under Section 140(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to kidnapping for ransom, among other offences.Acting swiftly, authorities tracked down the location of the victim and rescued him from the Rabale area within hours of the abduction. Two of the four accused were arrested in connection with the case.
Accused Identified, Manhunt Continues
Assistant Police Inspector Sunil Bodke confirmed the arrest of Raj Uday Bhalerao (32) and Yash Satish Garud (26). Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining two individuals involved in the kidnapping.The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as the case progresses.
