Crime Branch Busts Drug Racket in Pandesara, Probe Underway​


Surat, May 11 – In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Surat city police arrested two individuals in possession of hybrid ganja valued at approximately ₹60 lakh. The city’s crime branch conducted the operation late on May 9 following a tip-off.

According to police officials, the raid occurred at a flat in a Gujarat Housing Board building in the Pandesara locality. During the raid, officers seized nearly 2 kilograms of hybrid ganja, a potent strain of cannabis derived from both indica and sativa varieties.

The two accused, identified as Aditya Singh from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and Piyush Patel from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were residing in Surat at the time of their arrest. Both are now in custody and facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the origins of the seized drugs and determine the intended recipients. The police are working to uncover the supply chain involved in trafficking the high-value contraband.

This seizure marks a continued effort by the Surat police to curb drug-related activities and ensure public safety in the region.
