Thane, May 15 — The Wagle Estate police have seized banned gutka and other tobacco products worth ₹40,000 and arrested two individuals for their involvement in the illegal transportation of these items, an official confirmed on Thursday.

The seizure took place on Wednesday night when a police team intercepted a tempo suspected of carrying contraband. Upon inspection, officers discovered a large quantity of scented tobacco mixes and other prohibited products from various brands being transported in the vehicle.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayush Chotelal Nigam and Shivam Sitaram Nigam, both aged 22. They were taken into custody and booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 123 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offence), Section 223 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and Section 275 (sale of noxious food or drink).
