Chatra, Jharkhand – May 15: In a significant crackdown on narcotics, police in Jharkhand's Chatra district arrested two individuals with 639 grams of brown sugar, estimated to be worth nearly ₹15 lakh.
The arrests were made during a raid in Rohmar village based on intelligence inputs, a senior police officer confirmed on Thursday. The operation, which was led by a local police team, resulted in the seizure of the highly addictive contraband from the possession of the two accused.
Authorities have registered a case against a total of 11 individuals under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Following the seizure, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining nine accused who are currently absconding.
Police have intensified surveillance and are continuing their investigation to dismantle the network involved in the illegal drug trade in the region.
