Shirdi, Maharashtra, Feb 4 (PTI) – In a tragic turn of events, two employees of the Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust were fatally stabbed, and another person was injured during separate robbery attempts in Shirdi, Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district. The attacks, which took place early on Monday, have left the local community shaken, authorities confirmed.
Police have arrested Kiran Nyandeo Sada Kule, a resident of Shri Ram Nagar, in connection with the brutal attacks. A search is currently underway for another suspect believed to be involved, a police official revealed.
The victims were identified as Subhash Sahebrao Ghode (43) and Nitin Krishna Shejul (45), both employees of the renowned trust, which oversees the Saibaba Temple in Shirdi. Ghode, who worked as a helper in the temple department, and Shejul, a security department contractor, were stabbed to death in separate incidents. Meanwhile, Krushna Deharkar, a resident of Shrikrushna Nagar, was injured in a third attack, which occurred within the span of an hour.
Authorities have stated that the motive behind the attacks appears to be robbery, with multiple criminal cases already filed against Kule and the other suspect involved.
The incident has raised concerns regarding safety in the area, prompting police to tighten security measures as investigations continue.
