New Delhi, May 16: In a significant crackdown on gang-related activities, Delhi Police arrested two individuals affiliated with the notorious Gogi-Jathedi gang in the Narela area. The arrested men, identified as Akshat Khatri and Bijender alias Ganja, both 22 years old, were found in possession of a sophisticated pistol and live ammunition.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Nidhin Valsan, a police team acted on specific intelligence inputs about suspected gang movements and laid a trap on May 16. The duo was intercepted while riding a motorcycle near Smriti Van in Narela.
“Upon checking, officers recovered a sophisticated pistol from Akshat and two live cartridges of .32 bore from Bijender,” said DCP Valsan.
During interrogation, Akshat Khatri revealed that he was influenced by his cousin Amit alias Commander, an associate of gangster Akshay Palada of the Kala Jathedi syndicate. Police stated that the two men were allegedly working on plans to expand the gang’s local presence and recruit new members in the area.
Bijender is already known to the police, with five criminal cases against him, including robbery, dacoity, and attempted murder in Outer North Delhi and Rohini. In contrast, Akshat does not have a prior criminal record.
A case has been registered against the duo under the Arms Act at the Narela police station. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the seized firearm and verify the ownership of the motorcycle used during the incident.
