Panaji, Feb 4 (PTI) – Goa police have arrested two individuals involved in a drug peddling operation, seizing a substantial haul of ganja worth Rs 2.4 lakh. The arrest follows an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the region.
The police apprehended a 19-year-old man from Udaipur, Rajasthan, identified as Rakesh Meghwal, who is accused of being the supplier of the narcotics. Meghwal allegedly provided the contraband to Sonu Kumar Chauhan, a 24-year-old man from Navelim village in South Goa, who was arrested on December 29, 2024. Chauhan had been caught with ganja valued at Rs 2.4 lakh.
During questioning, Chauhan revealed the name of his supplier, leading to a breakthrough in the investigation. With the help of technical surveillance, the police traced Meghwal to Udaipur, where a team of officers arrested him on January 31, 2025.
Both individuals face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case remains under further investigation as authorities continue their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the state.
