Mandsaur, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, arrested two men with 1.1 kilograms of mephedrone valued at ₹2.2 crore, a police official reported on Monday.
The accused, identified as Balusingh Panwar (46) and Kamlesh Prajapati (34), were apprehended on Saturday when the Neemuch Narcotics Cell intercepted their motorcycle on the bypass road. A search led to the recovery of 800 grams of mephedrone worth ₹1.6 crore.
Further interrogation of the duo resulted in the seizure of additional mephedrone worth ₹60 lakh from an illicit drug manufacturing facility within the Garoth police station limits. The authorities also confiscated items used in the production of the banned substance.
According to police, the accused revealed that Dinesh Mohel, a former sarpanch of Aakya Kunwarpada village, was allegedly producing and distributing mephedrone from his residence. Mohel is currently absconding.
All three individuals have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend the fugitive former sarpanch.
