Imphal, March 3: In a significant breakthrough, Manipur Police arrested two militants associated with the banned militant outfit, Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group), from Imphal East district on Sunday.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a police team successfully conducted an operation at a concealed hilltop hideout located in the Ngariyan Hills near Camphor Sungpham in the Andro area. The two militants were apprehended during this raid.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Yumnam Abung Singh alias Chingakpa (39) and Thangjam Joykumar Singh (52), according to a senior police official.
The duo is accused of actively participating in the transportation of illegal arms and ammunition and carrying out extortion activities targeting government officials, private businesses, and ordinary citizens across the region.
